Captain Helen Richardson-Walsh scored twice as hosts Great Britain secured a 2-2 draw against holders Argentina in their opening match of the Champions Trophy at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Maria Granatto gave Argentina, ranked No 2 in the world, a deserved early lead following a spell of dominance, firing home in the seventh minutes after GB goalkeeper Maddie Hinch had made a good stop.
Great Britain, though, levelled at the start of the second half when Richardson-Walsh showed good close control down the right before stabbing in after a scramble at the near post.
Sophie Bray almost scored a superb individual goal, slotting just wide after a weaving run, and Georgie Twigg's shot was saved at point-blank range by Belen Succi before Argentina regained the lead through captain Carla Rebecchi, who lashed the ball in from a penalty corner after 47 minutes.
However, Britain responded again with six minutes left as Richardson-Walsh tipped home Sam Quek's low drive to earn a hard-earned point.
Danny Kerry's side continue their pool matches on Sunday against the Netherlands who are top of the world rankings.
