Hockey: Dan Shingles forced to withdraw from World League Squad

Dan Shingles has been forced to withdraw from the Great Britain World League squad after picking up an injury in training this week.

The 28-year-old Reading player, who last featured in a tournament at the 2014 World Cup has already been assessed by medical staff and whilst the injury is not thought to be serious, he will not be fit enough to compete at the tournament in Antwerp.

His place is taken by Beeston’s Tim Whiteman. The No21, who has 40 caps to his name will fly out with the rest of the squad for the tournament which runs from 20 June – 5 July 2015. Selected matches from the tournament will be shown live on SportNews.
